Hackers hacked PlayStation

Three hacker groups reported hacking of the previous generation Sony console. This is reported by the Kotaku edition.

The journalists noticed that three groups – SpectreDev, ChendoChap and Znullptr – almost simultaneously talked about the fact that they managed to run arbitrary code on the PS4. In particular, representatives of SpectreDev showed on video in Twitterthat they were able to hack the built-in protection on firmware 9.00, which was released in September. This hack allows users to install and run pirated versions of games and programs on the console.

“December 13, 2021 could go down in history as the day the PlayStation 4 finally opened,” noted the journalists. According to the authors, the penetration into the PS4 system will theoretically allow in the future to create a jailbreak for the current PlayStation 5 console.

Experts emphasized that PS4 was hacked earlier. However, previous exploits allowed pirated games to run on older versions of the console. The actual one will allow you to manipulate the prefix on the firmware, which appeared two or three months ago. Due to the shortage of semiconductors in the global market and difficulties in purchasing the PS5, the PlayStation 4, released in 2013, is still a popular console.

In July 2020, a vulnerability was discovered in the PlayStation 4 console that allowed installing pirated games and stealing user data. Experts recommended the owners of the set-top boxes to stop using the jailbroken software.
