With a solemn session, where 15 recognitions were given, La Puntilla celebrated its 16 years as a satellite parish of Samborondón

At the meeting, the work of citizens, companies and institutions was highlighted. In addition, it was indicated that clear rules and legal certainty are vital to attract investment.

On December 14, 2005, the approval of the municipal ordinance that gives life to the urban satellite parish La Puntilla, part of the Samborondón canton, was published in the Official Registry.

At that time, La Puntilla had about 60 urbanizations built, schools, universities, and a private clinic was about to be inaugurated. They were around 10,000 its inhabitants. That accelerated growth motivated the creation of this satellite parish, in the time of José Yúnez Parra, who was mayor of Samborondón from 1996 to 2019.

Already with its own budget and with other considerations and benefits as a parish, La Puntilla has continued to expand.

This Tuesday, December 14, it celebrated its 16th anniversary as a satellite parish and its authorities held a solemn session where part of its history, development, contribution were recalled, and there was also talk of works in progress and to come.

At the meeting, the Mayor’s Office also recognized outstanding citizens, companies and institutions in different areas.

There were 15 winners in various categories. Of them, three were post mortem and the plaques, for civic merit, were received by their relatives.

Jacinto Medina Ramírez, who in life was known for dedicating himself fully to agriculture with crops and commercialization of rice, was the first on the list, which started with the awards post mortem.

The second post mortem It was for Juan José Vilaseca Valls, a Guayaquil businessman who also created the foundation that was first called Gabriel Vilaseca Soler and that is now called the Vilaseca Foundation.

The third post mortem It was for Omar Quintana Baquerizo, an Ecuadorian athlete, politician and sports leader.

Due to its trajectory, EL UNIVERSO newspaper, which turned 100 years old on September 16, was recognized in the Journalistic Merit category. Its founder was the Ecuadorian writer and journalist Ismael Pérez Pazmiño. The plaque was received by its current managers: Carlos, César and Nicolás Pérez.

In this category, the journalist Teresa Arboleda González was also awarded, who withdrew from the screen of Ecuavisa After working 42 years at that company, where she stood out as a primetime news anchor.

In the Educational Merit category, the La Moderna campuses, with 38 years of institutional life, and the Ecotec Technological University, which has been serving the community for 15 years, were recognized.

Jorge García Torres, founder and executive president of Sumesa, received a plaque for Business Merit. He started his family business in 1973 when he set up a small factory to develop the Fresco Solo product, known to several generations.

The urban development project Arcos Plaza, located in the Down Town of Samborondón, won a plaque for Urban Development. This project has offices, commerce and housing.

In the Cultural Merit category, the Sánchez Aguilar Theater, which opened its doors in 2012, in Samborondón, and the Guayaquil composer and artistic entrepreneur Enrique Izquieta Aráuz, who at the age of 82 fulfills his dream of writing his first novel, were recognized: The cynic.

For Social Merit they presented plaques to the Soler Lux Dei Bilingual Educational Center, which has almost 50 years of educational experience, and to Difare, an Ecuadorian company that distributes and markets pharmaceutical, consumer and generic products.

The plaque in the category Merit to Entrepreneurship went to Jaime Solórzano Hevia, who has led the Love Tattoo Parlor business for seven years, a studio dedicated especially to tattoos and piercings.

The recognition for Sports Merit went to the Ecuadorian sailor Jonathan Martinetti, who became Sunfish World Champion, in Florida, United States, last October, one of his recent international achievements that are added to other medals obtained in different international tournaments.

The ceremony of the Municipality for the 16 years of La Puntilla as a satellite parish of Samborondón took place at the Convention Center of the Espiritu Santo University (UEES), on the night of this December 14.

There, Mayor Juan José Yúnez Nowak (son of Yúnez Parra, the previous mayor) stressed that by lowering taxes and reducing paperwork times, as well as having clear rules and legal security are key for a town to become a pole of development as, he affirms, happens with Samborondón. (I)
