The analog terrestrial television signal was turned off in Poland over a decade ago (in July 2013). However, some companies still provide customers with an analog cable TV signal. This, even though such packages have not been offered for many years. In the case of UPC Polska, the analog television offer went out of sale in 2013, but the signal is still provided today.
Play will turn off analog TV in another city. He has a proposition for customers
Now Play has decided to accelerate the complete abandonment of the obsolete technology, of course in favor of digital cable television. Earlier this year, the operator turned off analog television provided by UPC Polska, among others. in Katowice and Kraków. Now it’s time for Warsaw.
According to the Play network, it informs customers living in the capital about the switching off of the analog signal. The decision results, of course, from the desire to free up part of the bandwidth occupied by analog stations in favor of digital cable television. Unfortunately, Play did not provide the exact date of switching off analog TV. The company only noted that “a few customers” who still use analog technology received an attractive offer to switch to a digital signal.
The few customers who were still using it were notified in advance of the planned changes. They also received an offer to switch to modern digital television with a decoder on attractive terms, so that they could still watch their favorite programs in even better image and sound quality. The freed frequencies will be used to further improve the quality of the digital services we provide
– said the operator, whose announcement was quoted by the website virtualmedia.pl.
Providers that still provide analog TV service are trying to encourage the last supporters of the archaic technology to change. In recent years, it has become common to limit the channels available on analog television. Play is not the only operator that has decided to slowly abandon analog television. Vectra decided to phase it out last year.
