The most popular folding smartphone has been named

Samsung continued to lead the foldable smartphone market, but may lose its position to Chinese brands in the future. This is reported in the latest report from Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC).

According to the results of the third quarter, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 was named the best-selling folding smartphone. The device received a 45 percent share. In second position is the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, with a share of 24 percent. Huawei Mate X3 and Honor Magic V2 took third and fourth places, respectively, with each gadget receiving a 6 percent share.

Samsung remained the segment leader, with a 72 percent share. Huawei remained in second place with a share of 9 percent, and Honor was in third place, receiving a share of 8 percent. According to DSCC analysts, Samsung’s share will collapse to 42 percent in the fourth quarter of 2023. The reason for this was the entry into the market of more advanced and cheaper devices from competing Chinese brands.

In total, 7 million foldable devices were shipped to the market in the third quarter, which is 215 percent more than in the second quarter. There were also 16 percent more devices shipped in the third quarter than in the same period last year.
