Chinagorom Onwumere, 34, and Salma Abdalkareem, 27, conned a septuagenarian who felt humiliated and committed suicide.
The heartless men planned to lie in front of the 74-year-old man and trap him. Salma flirted with him. She wanted to make him fall in love with her.

Salma Abdalkareem, according to Caraota Digital, “posed as a well-known actress who was looking for a relationship with the septuagenarian.”
The older man was seduced and it is alleged they exchanged photos.
In the middle of the supposed and budding relationship, Chinagorom Onwumere appeared. He contacted the septuagenarian to let him know he was an FBI agent and that “he had filed a sexual harassment lawsuit over conversations” with Salma.
The man told the victim of this farce that he would have to “pay fines so that the case could be resolved out of court.”
Police, quoted in El Diario de NY, stated that “the couple got the septuagenarian to send them checks for $4,500 and $5,500 and then upped the ante, making him send them two more for $41,000. In total, the victim is believed to have sent more than $100,000 to Onwumere and Abdalkareem.”
The septuagenarian could not bear the pressure of extortion and ended his life by shooting himself in the head.

In the midst of this tragedy, the older adult’s family found “the emails they used to defraud him and take money.”
For Washington County Tennessee Lt. Vince Walters, “the victim was just scared.” and I felt like I had to pay the money,” El Diario de NY reported.
The victim sent gift cards and checks totaling $87,500 to the suspects, who allegedly threatened the victim and his family via email.

The scammer couple was arrested in November 2023. According to a criminal complaint, “between August 13 and October 23, Chinagorom Onwumere and Salma Abdalkareem schemed to obtain money or property under false and fraudulent pretenses.”
They were arrested at their home in Piscataway, New Jersey. According to ABC News, authorities found “an envelope that the victim sent to that address” at the home.
The two heartless men are charged with three counts of racketeering, three counts of financial exploitation of an elderly/vulnerable person, two counts of theft over $60,000 and two counts of criminal impersonation, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WSCO), News 12 NewJersey reported.
