Almost everyone knows Andrzej Zaucha’s hits such as “I invented you” or “You were a heartbeat”. He was involved in music, but he was also an actor and cabaret artist, and in his youth he practiced canoeing. In 1989, he met Zuzanna Leśniak, with whom he collaborated at the STU Theater. This relationship ended tragically.
He discovered his wife in bed with Andrzej Zaucha. “I told him: I’m going to have to kill you.”
On August 31, 1989, Andrzej Zaucha lost his wife, Elżbieta, with whom he was madly in love. He was depressed and tried to find happiness at work. The artist was cast in “Pan Twardowski” at the STU Theater, where Zuzanna Leśniak also worked. The actress felt lonely in her relationship with her husband, director Yves Goulais. Over time, feelings began to develop between Zaucha and Leśniak. Yves often traveled and was not at home. He had no idea that his wife was spending time with another man, which he found out when he discovered her in bed with Andrzej. — When I found Andrzej in my apartment, I told him: I will have to kill you. The words just came out of my mouth. Andrzej was surprised and scared when he saw me. He was the biggest victim of it all – Goulais.
He turned himself in to the police and admitted to shooting Andrzej Zaucha. “I was a weak person who couldn’t stand humiliation”
Yves Goulais couldn’t bear the thought that his wife had cheated on him. He bought the weapon in France and smuggled it into Poland. On October 10, 1991, he was waiting in front of the STU Theater, and when Andrzej Zaucha and Zuzanna Leśniak appeared in the parking lot, he fired 8 shots. The musician was there, and Zuzanna was taken to hospital, but she also died after a few days. — My problem was that I was a weak person who couldn’t stand humiliation, admitted Yves, who turned himself in to the police and confessed to the crime. However, he emphasized that he did not want to kill his wife, but her lover. He was imprisoned for 15 years. All the time he was transferring money to Andrzej Zaucha’s daughter. He also transferred the apartments to her. After serving his sentence, he changed his name and surname and started working at TVP. He co-created well-known TV series on Polish Television, including “Leśniczówka”.
