A 44-year-old American woman, who was honeymooning in the Bahamas, was bitten by a shark while rowing near Cable Beach on Monday.
The tourist was accompanied by her husband, who emerged unscathed from the encounter with the shark. The woman was pulled from the water by a lifeguard from the Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort and brought to safety.
According to police, rescuers performed resuscitation maneuvers on the tourist, but the injuries she suffered on the right side of her body were too serious.

Emergency services declared her dead instantly.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic death of a guest while paddle boarding almost a mile from shore. “We would like to express our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim,” said a statement from the tourist complex where the woman was staying. (JO)
