Googling will start removing inactive accounts from its platform, i.e. those that do have not been used for two years or more. This measure is starting Friday December 1st and affects all Google apps synced to an inactive account.

This means that programs where you are signed in with your account, such as Gmail, Google Photos, Google Drive, Google Docs, and other apps such as Calendar or Google Play, They will lose all data when that account is deleted.

Google is experimenting with ‘Notes’, a function to add your own annotations to search results

How do I know if my account is inactive?

There are users who create Google accounts for a specific topic, but when their storage space becomes full or they change their activity, they create another account and forget the previous one. If this is your case and you have Gmail accounts that you haven’t logged into in a while, they will likely be deleted on December 1 because they are inactive.

All photos, files, documents and emails from that account will also be deleted.

How can I prevent my Google Account from being deleted?

What Google does to determine if an account is inactive is to check if there has been any activity in the last two years. If you recently logged in, sent an email, or saved a document from that account, you have nothing to worry about.

But if you have Gmail accounts with no recent activity, What you need to do is log into those accounts, from any device. Once you log in, Google detects that the account is active and will not delete it.

For extra security, try sending an email or putting an appointment on your calendar to make sure your account is safe.

You don’t need to log in to each cloud service to activate your account. Just make sure you log in every now and then so Google knows you’re using your account. (JO)
