The point is, of course, to adapt the terrestrial television broadcasting standard to DVB-T2. This process began in the first half of 2022, when channels on the MUX-1, MUX-2 and MUX-4 multiplexes (i.e. almost all commercial TV channels) started broadcasting in the new standard. People who did not replace their TV with a new one in time (or did not buy an appropriate decoder) lost access to almost all programs. Almost, because the government made an exception.
TVP will join commercial stations. Some viewers will lose access to the public broadcaster’s programs
and commercial stations on MUX-8 (Metro, Zoom TV, Nowa TV and WP) may be broadcast in the old standard until the end of 2023.
Now it is known that the Polish Television channels will be finally transferred to the DVB-T2 standard on the night of December 14-15. This means that people who have not yet decided to replace their TV sets or decoders will then lose access to the government broadcaster’s programs, including the flagship news program “Wiadomosci” and the TVP Info channel.
The vast majority of consumers already use DVB-T2 compatible TV sets, but some are still delaying the replacement of the receiver or have decided that equipment that is several years old meets the requirements. . There may be fewer of them now, but there are still plenty of them.
Purchasing equipment that supports the new standard does not have to involve a large expense. Currently, not only all new ones, but also slightly older ones (TV models from two or three years ago) support DVB-T2. You can always decide to buy an additional DVB-T2 decoder, the prices of which start from several dozen zlotys.
