The myth about nightly charging a smartphone is dispelled

Charging your smartphone overnight does not harm the device’s battery. This was reported by Gazeta.ru.

“Modern smartphones are equipped with charge controller microcircuits that regulate the supply of current,” Svetlana Mureyeva, marketing manager of Itel, dispelled the myth about charging devices. According to the specialist, in this regard, the wear of the gadget’s battery is excluded. Also, some devices support the technology, thanks to which the device charges up to 80 percent and picks up the remaining 20 percent immediately before using the gadget.

However, Mureyeva stressed that overnight charging could theoretically be dangerous. “A short circuit is possible, especially if a low-quality charger is used,” the expert noted. According to her, therefore, it is better to use original charging accessories or not leave the phone charging overnight. “Chargers have minimal power consumption in standby mode, but they do exist,” Mureyeva summed up.

In early December, expert Roman Kusakin said that counterfeit chargers could shorten the battery life of a smartphone. “For a non-original charger, the declared characteristics may differ from the real ones,” the specialist emphasized.
