“I heard you say you have blood type O and healthy kidneys.” That message was posted on TikTok 2022 by an American girl with kidney disease.

In Kansas, a nurse couldn’t remain indifferent when reading it and responded. From the heart came the offer to be his donor, to be part of and witness his new life.

More than a year has passed, Univisión reports, and young Katie Hallum, 21 years old and a student from Oklahoma, is “recovering satisfactorily.”

What did the young woman have?

According to Univision, citing The Washington Post, he was diagnosed in March 2020 with “IgA nephropathy, a disease that occurs when antibodies build up in the kidneys, damaging them.”

When he noticed that his ankles were swelling (swelling) and the color of his urine was red, he went to the doctor and received the evaluation described.

The disease progressed and in September 2021 he developed migraines and his blood pressure was high.

When seizures were added to the picture, she was admitted to a hospital. The kidneys started to fail.

After two months, “the nephrologist informed him that he would need dialysis treatment to survive and that he would be on a waiting list for a kidney transplant.”

Expectations were not good, as he later told him “the wait could be between two and five years.”

The message on TikTok: You have something I want

The young woman started dialysis and took refuge in TikTok, where she made jokes… until one day she decided to investigate with the video that led her to regain her health.

It took just 10 seconds for Katie to discover the ‘magic’ they say happens on social networks.

On July 25, 2022, the young woman published a video on her TikTok account in which Univisión recalls reading: “POV (Perspective, from the viewer’s perspective): I heard you say that you have a blood type. Or and healthy kidneys.”

The video shows the young woman opening a door. The aforementioned network described him, adding, “He dubbed a line from the movie The Mandalorian that says, ‘You have something I want.'”

She was declared brain dead and could save her husband’s life: the lesson of love and organ donation from Sibele Augusta and Mário

The nurse’s response

In the TikTok feed, the young woman’s video appeared about nurse Savannah Stallbaumer, who did not hesitate to ask in a short time where and how the test was done.

The tests were compatible and the transplant was given. No one could imagine the power of TikTok in a situation like this.

Stallbaumer donated his left kidney to Katie Hallum after meeting him in person just a few times, Univision noted.

Today’s women are friends and plan to spend Christmas together in 2023.

Once the nurse knew everything was going well during the surgery, she surprised Katie when she was having dinner with her parents, Infobae reported. Savannah Stallbaumer brought flowers and a white sign with the message: “The official statement has been made public: you will receive a kidney.” Life and TikTok united them forever. (JO)
