The end of the great scandal at OpenAI. Sam Altman returns to the company. What about the management?

Sam Altman, co-founder and long-time CEO of OpenAI, returns to his position. After several days of battle, the management apparently gave in to the pressure from the employees. Just two days ago it was announced that Altman would lead his own team at Microsoft.

Sam Altman was fired as the head of OpenAI completely unexpectedly last Friday by the company’s board. The release said the CEO “has not been consistently candid in his communications with the board.” For an unknown reason, Greg Brockman, another co-founder and chief technology officer of OpenAI, was also demoted and removed from his position as a board member.

OpenAI announced the decision on Wednesday morning on the X portal. The company’s authorities reached an agreement and decided to reinstate Sam Altman as CEO just a few days after he was suddenly fired from the organization. At the same time, Altman will cooperate with the new management board, headed by Bret Taylor.

We have reached an agreement in principle to return Sam Altman to OpenAI as CEO with a new initial board of directors consisting of Bret Taylor (Chairman), Larry Summers and Adam D’Angelo. We cooperate to arrange the details. Thank you very much for your patience

– wrote OpenAI on X.

Altman himself has already confirmed that he “can’t wait” to return to OpenAI and work with Microsoft. On Monday, Satya Nadella, the company’s CEO, announced that Altman would join the Redmond giant, where he would lead a new team.

More details coming soon.
