The corpse of Jesus Ociel Baenaa member of a Mexican electoral tribunal who had reported threats against him non-binary identitywas found on Monday, authorities said.

The Aguascalientes State Prosecutor’s Office (center) announced in a statement that the lifeless bodies of ‘Jesús Ociel N’ had been locatedmagistrate‘ and activist of the LGBTIQ+ community and a named person Dorian Danielin a house.”

The agency explained that “It could be a personal matter.”, by ruling out the presence of a third person in the house in the city of Aguascalientes, the capital of the state.

In the hands of one of the lifeless bodies was a sharp instrument, the prosecutor’s office added.without specifying the identity of who had it.

“Forensic medical work is currently being carried out to determine the mechanisms and cause of death of both people,” he indicated.

Baena, 38 years old, declared himself a non-binary person, meaning he did not identify as male or female. At the end of July last year, he announced that authorities had granted him protection measures against “multiple attacks” on his person and “death threats” on his social networks.

In October 2022, he became the first non-binary person to hold electoral office in Mexico, in the state of Aguascalientes.

In turn, he was the first person in Mexico to receive a passport registering a non-binary identity. (JO)
