China launched a payload into orbit. A satellite shrouded in mystery

China has placed a mysterious satellite into orbit. Chinese state media explained in a short statement that the new satellite will be used to test communications. However, Western websites indicate that the device may have more applications.

successfully launched a new one using the Long March 7 rocket. The launch took place on Friday from the Wenchang Spaceport on Hainan Island in southern China. A satellite named Tongxin Jishu Shiyan Weixing-10 (TJS-10) was successfully delivered to Earth orbit – (CASC).

As reported by the state news agency, the new satellite will be used mainly for “experiments related to multi-band and high-speed communication technology.” TJS-10 will be placed in geostationary orbit (GEO) at an altitude of 35,786 km above the Earth’s surface – adds the website.

Both the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation and the local media do not provide any details about the new satellite. The Western portal space.com estimates that the lack of information in this regard may suggest that the satellite will have a number of different applications.

The TJS-3 satellite, launched in December 2018, was intended to be used for communication tests, according to Chinese media. The TJS-10 device, like TJS-3, was developed by the Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology (SAST), one of CASC’s main affiliates.
