There is no need to convince anyone about the success of Game Pass. According to the data shared by Microsoft itself, “Netflix for games” is used by more than 18 million users worldwide. The principles of XGP are simple. In exchange for a fixed monthly fee, users get access to a catalog of several hundred games – both fresh titles from Xbox Game Studios developers and classic productions from Xbox, Xbox 360 and Xbox One consoles.
So far, Sony has not offered a similar service. PlayStation users can subscribe PlayStation Plus, which allows them to play online games as well as 2-3 fresh titles added to the catalog every month. It is also unavailable in Poland PlayStation Nowwhich is a bit more like Game Pass, but gives you access only to a very limited catalog of games.
Bloomberg: The “Spartacus” project is coming
Sony apparently became jealous To Microsoft of the success of the Xbox Game Pass, because -, Jason Schreier – the company is preparing a response to Microsoft’s service. The head of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Jim Ryan, spoke about the fact that such an answer would appear last year, but his words were not followed by any details and specifics.
Jason Schreier shed new light on the matter. According to the information he obtained, the service, codenamed “Spartacus”, will debut on PlayStation 4 and 5 in spring 2022 and will give users of these consoles access to the “catalog of new and classic games” as part of a monthly fee.
