The Verge: HTC will send a set of VR headsets for astronauts to the ISS

HTC will send a set of virtual reality (VR) headsets to the International Space Station (ISS). This was reported by The Verge.

The corresponding agreement was concluded by HTC, XRHealth and NASA. According to the developers of VR headsets, the gadgets will help astronauts fight loneliness and relieve mental stress. A batch of HTC Vive Focus 3 devices will be sent to the ISS.

HTC said that the “life-saving” headsets for astronauts were adapted to microgravity conditions. The corporation will also check how well VR helmets will work in space. Previously, the headsets were in zero gravity for only about 20 seconds during parabolic test flights.

The first tester of the HTC device will be Danish astronaut Andreas Mogensen, who is the new commander of the ISS. To download content, virtual reality headsets will be connected to the Internet configured on the station. HTC Vive Focus 3 will be loaded with games and applications with meditation programs.

At the end of October, The Information journalists found out that Apple was considering using Vision Pro glasses as a medical device. The device has functions for diagnosing signs of depression, anxiety, stress or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
