Lawyer Maklichenko: Ministry of Internal Affairs officers demanded a bribe in Bugaev’s drug case
Lawyer Ekaterina Maklichenko, representing the interests of ex-Russian national team player Alexei Bugaev, spoke about the falsification of materials in the football player’s case. Her words are quoted by Match TV.
“When I talked with my client, I saw a number of documents that were signed at the time of his arrest, and I realized that he had not read any of the documents, but in fact signed confessions for the sale of a particularly large batch of drugs,” the lawyer said. She added that staged photographs of Bugaev were taken at the site of the discovery of the bomb and with the package, which, according to Maklichenko, the football player had not seen before.
In addition, the lawyer said that employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs called the athlete’s wife and demanded a bribe in the amount of three million rubles so that a criminal case would not be initiated. “Bugaev’s wife played along with them, said that she would look for him, and the next day she contacted the FSB,” she added.
Bugaev’s detention became known on November 1. On the night of October 29, the ex-football player was stopped by police and found in the pocket of his sweatshirt a package containing 500 grams of mephedrone.
Bugaev was sentenced to seven days of administrative arrest for resisting law enforcement officers. Also, a criminal case was opened against the detainee under the article on preparation for drug trafficking with a preventive measure in the form of arrest until December 31.
