Google admits bug with Android 14 update blocking smartphone storage
Google has acknowledged a bug that could cause devices updated to Android 14 to be blocked. Android Authority reports this.
According to journalists, the problem primarily affected some owners of Google Pixel smartphones. They said that after updating to Android 14, the operating system blocked access to the media storage located on the drive. Users of devices from other brands also reported problems.
“We are aware of an issue affecting some devices that have received the Android 14 update,” the company said. According to engineers, those users who had more than one Google profile on their device encountered an error. The company has released a corrective update for Pixel smartphones; the update will be released for devices of other brands later.
Experts warned that in order to avoid blocking, users with several Google profiles on the device should not change their account and wait for the patch. Android Authority journalists emphasized that the problem can be temporarily solved by resetting the smartphone to factory settings.
Previously, analysts predicted an increase in the cost of Android smartphones in 2025. According to them, this is due to the release of the expensive Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor.
