On October 30, he was sentenced in the case of a loan he took out years ago for a house. When he applied for money, he allegedly embellished his income statement and significantly overstated it. The singer pleaded not guilty from the beginning of the case.
Michał Wiśniewski sentenced to prison. The leader of Ich Troje commented on the verdict
However, the court had a different opinion, and Michał Wiśniewski was told that he was guilty of the crimes he was accused of. The singer was sentenced to one and a half years in prison and a fine of PLN 80,000. The leader of the Ich Troje group must also cover the costs of the trial. The judgment is not yet final.
Michał Wiśniewski issued a statement on the matter and published the recording on social media. He admitted that he wanted to address the fans directly before answering media questions. “Ladies and gentlemen, I am innocent,” the singer began. “This information hit me today like a bolt from the blue when I was going to the rehearsal, so most of my plans fell apart. I don’t know what will happen next, because I think the best medicine is time to digest it,” he added.
“I will endure imprisonment with dignity if necessary”
The artist noted that he would fight and emphasized that his family supported him in this. “I will prepare material that will, I hope, be objective [wszystko pokazać – przyp. red.], because it will make all the files relating to this case public – I am also counting on the legal community to perhaps correct me. Perhaps he will suggest something, but I will definitely appeal in this matter. This verdict is terrible,” says Wiśniewski.
At the same time, the leader of Ich Troje emphasizes that he will accept the decision to serve his final sentence with dignity. “Prison for innocence is a bit like persecution. They wanted to give SKOK Wołomin and the whole scandal a face, so they did. My name is Michał Wiśniewski and I am innocent. And what happens after the scandal? I don’t think so,” the musician concluded.
The accusations against Wiśniewski surfaced two years ago. The prosecutor’s office in Warsaw charged the star with extorting a loan of PLN 2.8 million from SKOK Wołomin in 2006, which he did not repay.
