The army goes shopping. iPhones will only be available to selected people
At the same time, we also learned about the technical specifications of the devices that will soon be delivered to Polish soldiers. When it comes to smartphones, the Polish Armed Forces focus on the budget option – devices with the Android system.
The criteria are as follows:
- at least 4-inch (540 x 960 pixels) Android phones – 600 copies;
- at least 5.2-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Android phones – 2,300 units;
- at least 5.8-inch (2330 x 1440 pixels) Android phones – 1 piece;
- at least 5.5-inch iPhones (2532 x 1170 pixels) with A15 Bionic chip – 40 pieces.
As can be seen from the above, only 40 iPhones will be delivered to the army. You might expect that these are reserved only for senior officers. In this case, we also know what iPhone models the Armed Forces want to purchase. The only iPhones over 5.5-inch with the A15 chip and a screen with a resolution of 2532 by 1170 pixels are: iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 14.
When it comes to tablets, the military completely ignores Android devices and relies exclusively on Apple iPads. As part of the tender, 200 iPads with a diagonal of 8 to 8.5 inches, a resolution of at least 1920 x 1080 pixels and 256 GB of data memory are to be purchased. Here the matter is even simpler. The only Apple device that meets these criteria is the 6th generation iPad mini. It must be admitted that it is quite an expensive tablet, and its price in the Apple Store is currently PLN 3,699.
Smartphones and tablets for the military are to be covered by a 24-month warranty. In the case of additional accessories, the warranty will be 12 months, and in the case of batteries – 6 months.
