There is no doubt that the development of artificial intelligence, especially generative intelligence, will impact the labor market. However, the question will be to what extent this impact will be negative. A new study of the impact of AI on the labor market in Poland brings both good and bad news.
Employees are afraid of AI. But some people see new opportunities in it
Prepared by Cpl Poland, Just Join IT and RocketJobs.pl, the authors asked over 100 companies and 600 employees from Poland (mostly from the IT industry) about the market sentiment regarding the development of AI. Most respondents believe that artificial intelligence will replace some people in the labor market, but they approach it with hopes rather than fears. Some also note that this technology may have a negative impact on the level of their remuneration or make it difficult to negotiate a satisfactory rate in a new job.
According to the vast majority of respondents, the upcoming revolution will bring both an opportunity and a threat to the labor market in Poland. As many as 64.89 percent think so. subjects. 21.32 percent people say that there will be more opportunities, and 7.84 percent believes that the threats will prevail. At the same time, respondents do not agree on whether AI will take Poles’ jobs. 44.38 percent claims that AI will increase unemployment, and 44.06 percent chose the opposite answer (the others had no opinion). Hardly any employee believes that AI will have no or only a minor impact on the labor market (5.02%).
Interestingly, despite great uncertainty, only 27.9 percent respondents are afraid of the coming revolution. At the same time, as much as 90.94 percent employees claim that AI will cause a lot of disruption, causing some jobs to disappear and new ones to appear in their place. A large percentage also believe that AI will increase the level of productivity (65.94%) and bring “new challenges in work management” (65.63%). Three-quarters of people believe that AI will ultimately bring beneficial changes.
Respondents are also divided on whether AI will result in a decline or a possible increase in wages. A slight majority, 54.37 percent. employees believe that artificial intelligence will have no impact on the level of wages in Poland at all. The majority of the rest (28.44%) say that AI will bring a drop in wages, while only 17.19% think respondents, the impact on wages will be positive.
