“We’ve never seen anything like this”: Polish police surprised by thief who posed as a store mannequin to rob a shopping center

Many films and too many series seem to have seen a fearless thief who has left many amazed since Poland, where he was arrested for trying to deceive by camouflaging himself as a fashion model.

The man, who had his nerves under control, dared to stand in a display case – cupboard, shop window – of a shop in full view of everyone.

He posed and remained silent for a while. The images released of the situation went viral.

The man sat there for more than five hours, disguised as a human mannequin.

Thief changed clothes

Noticias Telemundo reported on Thursday, October 19, 2023 that the suspect was “waiting for the mall to close” to receive his “loot”.

He planned to “steal jewelry” after the mall closed, authorities in Warsaw, the Polish capital, said.

The security cameras had already recorded his movements and saw that the criminal had previously crouched to pass under the iron curtain (santamaría) of a store “to change his clothes for new ones.”

He was a thief who knew the area, because – citing authorities – the news station stated that “the person previously ate at a restaurant.”

According to the release, the thief is facing charges that could lead to a “season” of ten years in prison. According to Warsaw authorities, published by El Tiempo, the attacker is 22 years old.

According to Robert Szumiata, spokesman for the Warsaw police, he made public his surprise at this kind of crime: “We have never seen anything like this.”

On social networks, Pilar Voila said: “With that ingenuity… I could do so many things.”

Some users think the possible sentence of ten years is too much. but they agree with Glender Uzcátegui that the fearless young man “watched a lot of Facebook videos.”
