Pre-election reductions in fuel prices caused Czechs, Germans and Slovaks living near the border to start refueling their cars in Poland. Now it turns out that Czechs also prefer to pay for their phone numbers on our side of the border. Czech websites explain whether it is worth signing a contract on the Vistula River and what to pay attention to when using the services of Polish telecoms.
Czechs can save by using Polish numbers. But there are catches
“There are offers that may attract Czechs to Polish tariffs. However, it is worth knowing that they hide a few catches,” he explains, who compared the offers of Polish and Czech telecommunications companies. First of all, the portal draws attention to the fact that in Poland contracts are commonly signed for two years, which is problematic when we decide to change the operator before this period expires. Of course, you can also find offers for an indefinite period, but they are in the minority.
The second, although minor, problem is the amount of available data transfer. Unlike Czech operators, Polish operators very rarely offer Internet options without data limits, but the packages are usually large enough. “Operators, unlike Czech ones, rarely offer unlimited data transmission, but the gigabyte limits are quite generous. Once they are used up, the data usually simply slows down,” writes Seznam Zpravy. He adds that our standard is free calls and unlimited text messages.
The third and biggest difference, however, is the roaming data limit in the European Union. If you have a number with a Polish operator, you can usually use 10 to 12 percent. their Internet limit outside Poland – explain the Czechs. This often translates into just a few gigabytes per month. In the Czech Republic, customers can usually use the same amount of data domestically as abroad. The exception are offers with unlimited Internet, which are limited to approximately 35-64 GB per month when roaming.
All the hardships are worth the price. Even twice cheaper than in the Czech Republic
However, we can turn a blind eye to all the problems of Polish offers when looking at prices. And those on the Vistula River are usually much lower. The already mentioned Czech website provides as one of the examples the offer of the Polish and Czech branches of T-Mobile, which for the cheapest 5 GB package each pay 213 crowns (less than PLN 40) in Poland and 460 crowns in the Czech Republic (and this with a call and SMS limit). that). And compared to the offers of other operators on the Vistula, the price is not particularly attractive.
The Czech Republic is among the countries with the most expensive telephone subscriptions in the European Union. High prices from our neighbor are due to, among others, from limited competition in that market. Meanwhile, in Poland the situation is the opposite. According to , Poland – along with Romania, Spain and Estonia – is one of the four cheapest countries in terms of mobile Internet access.
