Xiaomi announced the HyperOS operating system, which will replace MIUI
The Chinese corporation Xiaomi has introduced a new operating system for smartphones. The head of the company, Lei Jun, announced this in his blog on Weibo.
Its own operating system is called HyperOS. According to the entrepreneur, the OS will become the main one for all products in the Xiaomi ecosystem. The first to have access to HyperOS will be the Xiaomi 14 series smartphones, which the company should announce at the end of October.
The new OS will replace MIUI, the system shell that Xiaomi has used on its smartphones along with Android since 2010. “It’s time to take the leap. Xiaomi not only has smartphones, but also a huge smart ecosystem covering more than 200 categories,” said Lei Jun.
Jun also emphasized that 5,000 company specialists are responsible for the development of the MIUI ecosystem. According to the head of the company, the number of OS users initially numbered “100 dreamers” and then grew to a billion people. It is unknown whether HyperOS will replace MIUI on already sold brand smartphones.
Earlier, Bloomberg sources said that Xiaomi intends to negotiate with local automakers to start producing electric vehicles under their brand. According to insiders, Xiaomi has begun negotiations with Brilliance and Chery.
