Apple allowed in-app purchases through third-party systems in Russia
Apple Corporation has allowed developers from Russia to set up payments in applications through third-party payment systems. This was reported by iPhones.ru.
As media journalists learned, the American company allowed developers to add links to external resources in applications to pay for services. Such links may only be displayed to users from Russia.
The corporation explained that to configure this function, developers must use the StoreKit External Purchase Link Entitlement (RU) API tool in iOS and iPadOS applications. Thus, Russians will be able to make purchases without using the built-in payment system of the App Store.
Also, developers will have to take into account the format of external links and place them in accordance with the requirements of the company. Application creators can review them in the guide.
In mid-January, the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia fined Apple 1.2 billion rubles for abuse of its dominant position. The report said that Apple was forcing Russian developers to use the company’s payment tool in their apps for iOS devices.
