One woman, who had been told the cancer discovered three years ago had gone into remission, died “after being misdiagnosed with persistent Covid.”
The case was published by Antena 3 and Mirror on Thursday, October 12.
The main character of this story was a 35-year-old nurse, Brogan Williams, from the United Kingdom.
What happened to the nurse
The nurse was providing intensive care services and, according to Mirror, “was in remission from breast cancer when she noticed the presence of a lump on her neck.”
Then Brogan “had difficulty speaking and became short of breath.”
The woman sought medical attention after experiencing chest pain in 2021 and in July of that year, doctors “ruled out the possibility of cancer, arguing that she was too young for the disease to return.”

They told him his lungs were affected by the coronavirus and there was talk of persistent Covid.
“He was advised to go home and rest,” Birmingham Live, Mirror reported.
But just ten days later, doctors gave him the unexpected news: “They said his cancer had returned.”

The disease was in advanced stages and the nurse “required palliative care, they gave him a life expectancy of two weeks,” according to Mirror.

The goodbye
The nurse’s family reported that she said she would put on “positive pants,” British media reported.
“I was determined to keep fighting,” Mirror said on Thursday, October 12. Brogan Williams had reasons not to give up: his daughter Freya and her husband Gareth.

Consciousness and love letters
The press highlighted that Brogan “wanted to raise awareness about the type of cancer she was suffering from, which was classified as metastatic breast cancer.” And they answered the nurse’s messages.
Brogan loved his girl. To her “He started writing letters, to read them at crucial moments in his life.”.
As a mother, she knew that she could remain present in Freya’s heart in this way: “(…) I want her to know exactly what I would say to her in certain situations, such as during her first period or the first time she meets a woman . boy and feel those butterflies.”
The nurse had a wonderful spirit. His message was: “Never let anything get in your way, reach for the stars and smile while you do it.” (JO)
