A group of Ecuadorians in Israel may return to the country in the coming days. This was announced by President Guillermo Lasso via his account on X (formerly Twitter).

In a message published this afternoon, Lasso indicated that 140 Ecuadorians had already left Israel, the majority were tourists, and that others 260 will be evacuated via a humanitarian flight that will depart from Tel Aviv to Quito.

Ecuador’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement indicating that a crisis committee had been activated at the president’s behest following Hamas’s attack on Israel.

The tasks of this committee focus on the registration and identification of Ecuadorians who were in the conflict area, the contact and coordination of the internal mobilization to Tel Aviv airport and reception upon arrival at Quito airport.

Management is carried out in collaboration with other state portfolios, such as the Ministries of Defense, Interior, Government, Tourism and the Risk Management Secretariat.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that there are no missing Ecuadorians or victims of the attacks so far.

In an interview with The TelegraphGonzalo González, Deputy Minister of Mobility, announced that people who do not have a physical passport can obtain a virtual passport to travel. (JO)
