CCS Insight: smartphones with self-healing displays will appear by 2028

Analysts at CCS Insight told us when smartphones with displays capable of self-healing will appear on the market. CNBC TV channel reports this.

In a review of technology forecasts, experts said they expect devices with new types of displays to appear within five years. It is likely that such screens will have a nano-coating, which will tighten like a film when scratches and other defects appear.

“This is not science fiction, this is real,” noted the company’s specialists. According to them, the main task of the creators of a new type of smartphone is to “correctly formulate expectations.” The company emphasized that such screens will become the norm by 2028.

CNBC journalists recalled that many smartphone manufacturers described the possibility of creating displays capable of self-healing. In 2013, LG released a prototype G Flex phone that had a “self-healing” coating on the back. However, the company did not explain how exactly this technology works.

Previously, a well-known insider under the nickname MajinBuOfficial revealed the first images of the iPhone 16. In the renderings, the device has a back panel with two oval blocks with lenses inscribed in them.
