A girl, Charlotte Sena, missing since Saturday afternoon, September 30, 2023, was found alive and a man was arrested in the case that kept New York in suspense for two days.
When the whereabouts of 9-year-old Charlotte became known, even New York Governor Kathy Hochul spoke out. ‘The whole world in it New York is breathing a collective sigh of relief now,” he told CNN en Español on the night of Monday, October 2.
The girl, whose face appeared on social media, disappeared while in New York’s Moreau Lake state park.
The youngest was kidnapped while cycling through the park, the New York Post reported. Charlotte Sena “was on a bypass with other children, but she ventured there alone and disappeared,” Univisión explained.
After his mother’s complaint, about 400 officers, including the FBI, were mobilized to search for him, according to state police.

Who is the inmate in the Charlotte Sena case?
Authorities reported the arrest of a suspect they identified Craig Nelson Ross Jr.47 years old.
According to Newsweek, “the suspect in the Charlotte Sena kidnapping was living in an RV behind his mother’s trailer in upstate New York.”
It is only a three-minute drive from his residence to the girl’s house, the media emphasize.
The person involved, with a broad forehead, mustache and thick beard, ‘was not known to the police’. Only one DUI (driving under the influence) conviction in 1999 in Saratoga was on the radar.

The rescue: the girl was found in a closet
Two neighbors told Fox News, the New York Post wrote, “how SWAT trucks and police cars got here in seconds,” transporting officers who had their “guns drawn” as they searched for the girl.
Ross was arrested around 6:30 p.m. “after some resistance,” Hochul told reporters Monday evening. He said Charlotte was found “immediately” in a cupboard.

The ransom note, the key
In addition to the phone analysis, a ransom note from the current person arrested in the case was crucial in locating the fourth-grade girl.
CNN en Español indicated that on Monday, October 2, around 4:20 a.m., “the suspect walked past the Sena family home and placed the ransom note in their mailbox.”
When police found the message, police recovered and compared the fingerprints.
“At 2:30 p.m., a match was obtained linking the fingerprint to Ross’s, the governor said. The senior official recognizes the ending of this story: “Charlotte’s parents had to deal with their worst nightmare.”
As the hours passed, hope faded. Because we all know the stories.

What happened to the suspect? He was charged with a serious crime of kidnapping, and “more charges are expected,” police said, according to CNN en Español.
Craig Nelson Ross Jr., Univision News said, was booked into the Saragota County Jail without bail.
Charlotte, described in a police news release as “a smart and adventurous girl who enjoys being outdoors,” is safe with her loved ones.
The police were full of comments about the little girl and these were broadcast by CNN en Español: “Charlotte has a big heart and wants to start a club at her school for children who have no friends.”
