If only Jack Dawson, when boarding the Titanic, knew how much his outfit would be worth in many years… Leonardo diCaprio’s costume from James Cameron’s film will be auctioned in London. Experts expect it to be sold for a record sum – the buyer is expected to bid on the trousers, jacket and shirt the actor wore on the set of the film for up to $200,000.
“Titanic”. Leonardo diCaprio costume at auction
The London auction will be a real treat for wealthy collectors of film props from around the world. The Jack Dawson costume with a label sewn on by its creator – Dominic Gherardi – and the date and name of the actor playing the role (“Leonardo diCaprio, August ’96”) – will be just one of many that will be auctioned. Movie fans will be able to buy (if they can afford) a Jack Sparrow costume from “Pirates of the Caribbean”, Captain America’s shield or a very tight Michael Keaton costume from “Batman” from 1989. And that’s still not all.

The auction will start on November 9. For four days, collectors will be able to bid on over 1,800 items related to films and TV series. Organizers expect that they will be auctioned for almost $14 million. The catalog of all gadgets will be available any day now, but we have already learned the estimated prices of some of them. So far, the most expensive item from the auction is… the head of the robot C-3PO from “Star Wars” from the private collection of Anthony Daniels, who played this role (and recently also appeared as C-3PO in Disney’s “Ahsoka”). . “Star Wars” fans, however, have to prepare really thick wallets – the “” costume is a piece of cake considering the price per robot head. C-3PO was valued at a minimum of $600,000, but organizers expect the price to reach over $1.2 million.
