At least a secret British report indicates so 55 Chinese sailors could have died after his nuclear submarine apparently became entangled in a trap intended to trap British underground ships in the Yellow Sea.
The sailors died after a catastrophic failure of the submarine’s oxygen systems poisoned the crew, the report accessed shows Daily email. The captain of the Chinese PLA Navy submarine ‘093-417’, Colonel Xue Yong-Peng, is reportedly among the dead, as are 21 other officers.
China has denied that the incident took place. Be that as it may, it appears that Beijing declined to request international assistance for its downed submarine.
The British report on the fatal mission says: “Intelligence reports that an onboard accident occurred on August 21 while a mission was being conducted in the Yellow Sea. The incident occurred at 8:12 a.m. local time and caused the deaths of 55 crew members: 22 officers, 7 cadet officers, 9 petty officers and 17 sailors.”.
“We understand that the death was caused by hypoxia due to a system failure on the submarine. The submarine struck a chain and anchor obstacle used by the Chinese Navy to trap American and allied submarines. This caused system failures that took six hours to repair and bring the ship to the surface. The onboard oxygen system poisoned the crew after a catastrophic failure” the report adds.
For now, there is no independent confirmation of the alleged loss of the Chinese submarine in the public domain.
Beijing has dismissed open source speculation about the incident as “completely falsewhile Taiwan has also denied the internet reports.
The British report, which is based on defense intelligence, scores highly. (JO)
