Multimedia Youth Education (MeduM for short) was originally supposed to start in December 2022, but in March this year. this date was postponed to August. However, after the platform did not launch in August, its launch was postponed to September 30 this year, i.e. the last Saturday.
MeduM, i.e. government TikTok for young people.
MeduM has been created on the initiative of Przemysław Czarnek and the Ministry of Education and Science for about a year. The project budget is PLN 29 million, but virtually nothing is known about the progress of work. The latest release date of MeduM was the day before yesterday, but the portal is gone. The ministry headed by Minister Czarnek did not reveal the new date.
As noted by Radek Karbowski, the creator of Political Shortcut for X, the platform’s website is still not working. It is also unclear whether further work on this project is ongoing and when – if at all – the “government TikTok” will finally start.
The MeduM platform should be launched today, with PLN 29 million invested in it. Politicians lost in the election campaign do not have time to explain to citizens what happened with this money and when the service will be launched – in December it will be a year since the original date. Let us remind you – MeduM was supposed to be (I am writing in the past tense because I assume it will never be launched again) a Polish educational Netflix for children and youth from the Ministry of Education and Science and Przemysław Czarnek
– Karbowski wrote on Saturday on the X platform.
What is the MeduM platform supposed to be?
MeduM was intended to be a streaming platform allowing young people to get acquainted with educational materials in a friendly way. The creators want to combine the advantages of two large, world-famous websites in one website – TikTok and Netflix, where the term “government TikTok” is popular on the Internet. Three entities are working or have worked together on the project – the Foundation for the Support of the History of Polish Cinematography, Active Beskidy and Top 500 Innovators – which won the competition of the Ministry of Education and Science.
The aim of the “MeduM” project is to create and disseminate among students aged 12-18 multimedia educational and teaching materials supporting the educational process in Poland, and placing them on the VOD streaming platform created for this purpose, meeting the requirements in terms of accessibility, in particular for people requiring special support in the education process (including refugees)
