The Crime of Greg Lawson

Lawson was identified and investigated for trying to kill a man, and in ’91 he escaped “after being convicted of attempted second-degree murder,” the aforementioned media noted.

On its website, The New York Times reported that Lawson was convicted of wounding Seth Garlington, who was 21, in a “shooting.”

That event, the newspaper added, citing The Shreveport Times, “left Mr. Garlington in a “serious but stable condition” in a hospital.

On April 24, 1990, Lawson and Garlington got into an argument outside a store in Ringgold, according to a news report at the time from The Associated Press, The New York Times reported on Saturday, September 23.

Regarding the event that brought Lawson to justice, Univisión explains it this way: Lawson shot Seth Garlington after an argument at a gas station.

“Although Garlington survived, Lawson was charged and convicted, but before hearing his sentence, he escaped and was not heard from again for years, CBS News reported and published the American network.
