On Tuesday, Apple will present a new generation of iPhones, which – according to numerous leaks – will be equipped with a USB Type-C port for the first time. But this is, of course, only one of the new features. Traditionally, you will learn everything about the new iPhones from our tomorrow’s report on Next.Gazeta.pl.
The premiere of iPhone 15 is on Tuesday. Where to watch?
The press conference at which Tim Cook and company will present new smartphones will traditionally take place in Apple Park, the headquarters of Apple located in the heart of Silicon Valley (in Cupertino). The event will start on Tuesday at exactly 7:00 p.m. Polish time (10:00 a.m. in California) and will last approximately 1.5-2 hours.
Apple signs its event with the slogan “Wonderlust” (which can be translated as the desire for miracles or the desire for amazement). However, the company’s Polish website has a different slogan – “Fenomenalia”. With these slogans, the company probably wants to emphasize that the event will be full of new products.
The premiere of the new iPhones will be broadcast on Apple’s website and on YouTube. As every year, we will also traditionally describe all new products on an ongoing basis in our report on Next.Gazeta.pl.
iPhone 15 is coming. What can we expect?
The new smartphone from Apple will come in four variants, differing in size and capabilities. Some rumors suggest that Apple has decided to mark the larger iPhone Pro version with the note Ultra this year (Max in previous years). All four versions look like this:
- iPhone 15 – 6.1″ Super Retina XDR (LTPS) screen;
- iPhone 15 Plus – 6.7″ Super Retina XDR (LTPS) screen;
- iPhone 15 Pro – 6.1″ Super Retina XDR screen (ProMotion);
- iPhone 15 Pro Max/Ultra – 6.7″ Super Retina XDR (ProMotion) screen.
Apple will also equip the new iPhone 15 with new processors, but only the two more powerful of them (iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max/Ultra) will receive the A17 Bionic chip made in the 3 nm technological process, which is supposed to be a performance monster. In two cheaper smartphones – iPhone 15 and 15 Plus – we can count on the A16 processor already known from last year’s iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. In this way, Apple wants to continue the trend of technological separation of weaker and more powerful versions of its smartphones.
Of course, there will be many more differences. Traditionally, the Pro versions will receive better cameras and (finally) a telephoto lens equipped with a completely new periscope lens system. According to rumors, this camera will allow for up to six times optical zoom. Displays in the Pro variants will also offer support for ProMotion Display technology with refreshment up to 120 Hz. Basic versions will receive weaker 60 Hz screens, which – in 2023 – is already a highly controversial decision.
In addition, we can expect several minor novelties in each variant of the iPhone 15, including subtle changes in design. Cheaper versions of iPhones are to receive the so-called this year. Dynamic Island known from iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. In the more expensive Pro versions, the island will also be present, but will undergo slight modifications.
Finally with USB Type C. Apple is about to have a surprise
All possible leaks also make it clear that Apple will finally decide to use the USB Type-C port in place of the proprietary Lightning standard. iPhone owners will be able to forget about the need to take a dedicated cable to charge their phone, because they can replenish energy with any USB cable. At least theoretically, because Apple can always use some tricks that will prevent, for example, fast charging using third-party cables.
Apple is also supposed to have a gift for customers who choose one of the iPhone 15 variants. In the box with the smartphone, we will find an elegant USB cable with a braid that matches the color of the selected iPhone variant. But that’s where the contents of the box end. Traditionally, there will be no charger itself (socket plug).
Prices are about to go through the roof. In Poland we can expect a significant increase
Finally, the prices, which – according to leaks – are supposed to be jaw-dropping. The two cheaper variants – iPhone 15 and 15 Plus – will not go up in price (at least in the US) and their prices will still start at $799 and $899. iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max/Ultra will reportedly increase in price by $100 and $200, respectively, bringing the price to $1,099 and $1,299. Buying the best iPhone, even the version with a small amount of data space, will be a huge expense.
And of course it will be even more expensive in Poland, because you also have to take into account customs duties, VAT and the currently very unfavorable dollar exchange rate. The official prices on the Polish market will be announced on Tuesday evening – probably right after Apple’s presentation.
