Bloomberg: US Department of Commerce will investigate Huawei’s sanctions circumvention
US authorities are interested in how Huawei managed to develop and release a new flagship smartphone. It is reported by Bloomberg.
According to media journalists, for the US Department of Commerce, which is the initiator of most of the sanctions imposed on Huawei, the release of the company’s new smartphone was a complete surprise. The material says that the corporation introduced the flagship Mate 60 Pro at a time when US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo was on a visit to China.
The agency’s authors noted that the Mate 60 Pro went on sale suddenly – without any marketing support. The country’s ministry will investigate how Huawei managed to circumvent sanctions and find modern seven-nanometer processors for the phone.
Bloomberg journalists also noted that the release of the Mate 60 Pro caused a wave of “nationalist sentiments on Chinese social networks.” The report also says that Huawei’s achievements were presented by local media as a victory for the Chinese corporation over sanctions.
Earlier, TechInsights specialists, at the request of Bloomberg, studied the new flagship of Huawei. It turned out that the Mate 60 Pro has a Kirin 9000s processor, created using a seven-nanometer process technology by SMIC.
