DigiTimes: Computer makers won’t get new chips because of iPhone 15
Smartphones of the iPhone 15 series will be the only gadgets that will receive new generation processors before the end of the year. This is reported by DigiTimes.
The media report says that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), which is the world’s largest chipmaker, will focus on manufacturing processors for Apple by the end of the year. We are talking about three-nanometer chips for the new iPhone.
Based on this, the authors concluded that manufacturers of other equipment will not have access to new generation processors until at least the end of 2023. In particular, the release of the iPhone 15 could hit the computer market.
Thus, DigiTimes analysts noted that Intel is “in line” for Arrow Lake processors, which are also based on a three-nanometer process technology. Sources said that the company had high hopes for the Arrow Lake line, as they sought to impose competition on the productive and energy-efficient Apple Silicon processors. However, TSMC may still start producing new chips for other companies before the end of the year if the supplier has enough production capacity.
At the end of the summer, analyst Ming-Chi Ko said that the release of Apple’s most expensive flagship on sale may be delayed due to production problems. According to the specialist, the iPhone 15 Pro Max will hit the market in October.
