Poles have created a levitating train. Test passed. It flew over existing tracks

The Polish company Nevomo conducted a test of its levitating train on the existing infrastructure. Everything went well. The authors of the revolutionary technology hope that they will change the railway transport in the world.

The Polish company Nevomo is trying to revolutionize the railway. This Tuesday, it unveiled MagRail, which is to be part of this revolution. From the information posted on we read that “MagRail is a magnetic railway that uses levitation, moving on existing railway tracks at speeds of up to 550 km/h. This hybrid solution allows both MagRail and conventional systems to operate on the same lines.”

The levitating train passed the test on existing rails

The company has posted a recording of the test of this technology in Nowa Sarzyna on the existing infrastructure. The test was successful. According to the company’s statement, the levitation effect was obtained after the prototype of the train exceeded 80 km/h. It was raised about 20 mm above the rails.

This is the first solution of this type in the world that allows the use of new technologies on existing tracks. They only need to be retrofitted with magnetic components. Thanks to that, Nevomo’s offer is much cheaper than the competition. In addition, trains using this technology do not need a locomotive. As a result, taking up the same space as a traditional train, they can accommodate more cars.

MagRail is just the beginning

According to the information on the company’s website, MagRail is just the beginning. The goal is a vacuum railway (hyperloop). However, this technology will require a new, dedicated infrastructure. Thanks to it, the vehicles, which are a combination of a train and a train, will move at a speed of up to 1200 km/h. “It will make it possible to travel, for example, from Kraków to Gdańsk in 35 minutes at a speed close to the speed of sound. The vehicle will move in a special tube in which it is as low as at an altitude of 10 kilometers, thanks to which air resistance is significantly reduced” – we read on the website.
