The end of UPC Poland. Customers receive e-mails from Play. The company informs about the terms of the contracts

UPC Polska customers receive messages with information that “UPC is now Play”. The operator informs about the disappearance of the brand operating on the Vistula for 23 years and changes for customers. He adds that rebranding does not entitle to terminate the contract with impunity.

The name change is, of course, the result of the rebranding completed a few days ago. and since September 1 it has been operating under the name Play (both brands belong to P4).

The end of UPC Poland. It’s Play now. Customers receive emails

As reported by , UPC Polska customers receive e-mails with information about the change of service provider, which is now P4. “We kindly inform you that from September 1, 2023, the provider of telecommunications services and the administrator of your personal data under the contracts concluded with UPC Polska sp. z oo is: P4 sp. z oo, ul. Invention 1, 02-677 Warsaw” – it was written in an e-mail quoted by the portal.

The messages also provided a new mailing address and e-mail address, and added that the helpline number remained unchanged. It was also noted that the name change is the result of the merger of UPC Polska sp. z oo with P4 sp. z oo and does not require any action on the part of the client. The UPC Polska website has been down for several days. Attempting to open it ends up redirecting to the home page of Play.

Contracts remain unchanged. You can’t break them without consequences

As previously reported by Play, all existing contracts of UPC Polska customers remain in force without changes. Therefore, the scope of services, price, terms of the contract and its expiry date are identical. Therefore, customers do not have the option of breaking the commitment before its expiry. Such action will result in the “necessity to return the proportional part of the relief” that was granted when the contract was signed.

“With the entry into the National Court Register, UPC Polska formally becomes part of P4, which took over all the rights and obligations of UPC Polska. This means that current UPC Polska customers can continue to conveniently use their services under the existing conditions. Both the duration of the contracts, the amount of fees and bank account details for making payments remain unchanged. – reported the Play press office on August 31.

P4 announced its intention to take over UPC Polska in September 2021, but the transaction was formally finalized in April 2022. Since then, the integration of both brands has been carried out, which ended with the abandonment of the UPC Polska name in favor of Play. A few months earlier, however, the P4 operator decided to gradually close UPC stores in Poland.
