Argentine presidential candidate Javier Milei loves dogs, so he cloned his favorite pet

The name Javier Milei has become popular on the continent thanks to the spread of his speeches and winning the most votes in Argentina’s primaries last Sunday.

With an unusual speech and various eccentricities, the candidate has attracted attention. One of the facets for which he is also known is his love for animals, especially his dogs.

When the results were announced, Milei gave speeches on Sunday night recalling the win and dedicating it to her five dogs. “And you can imagine whoever… my four-legged children: Conan, Murray, Milton, Robert and Lucas.”

Conan came into Milei’s life in 2004 in the province of Córdoba and his name comes from Robert E. Howard’s Conan the Barbarian series. He passed away due to illness in 2017.

In a 2019 interview, the candidate said his dog was cloned and his “grandchildren” came from there. Mieli said she contacted a Texas company, who asked her to take samples and send them in, generating a set of cells that were frozen and used for the process.

The process cost about $50,000.

Dogs have adapted rooms, reports CNN, and are the priority in their lives. At one point, Milei was out of a job and prioritized providing for Conan’s bare necessities, such as walking and his food. At that time he only ate pizzas.

Mieli is not alone in carrying out the process, Barbara Streisand is known to have also acknowledged that two of her puppies were clones of her deceased pet.

Election Silence: From 00:00 AM on Friday, August 18 to 5:00 PM on Sunday, August 20, an election silence is in effect, which means that the dissemination of any kind of information from public institutions and election advertisements must be avoided.

Prohibition law: The sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited before and after the elections, i.e. from Friday, August 18, 12:00 a.m. to Monday, August 21, 12:00 a.m.
