The taxi platform by application DiDi announced through a statement the deactivation of its service DiDi Motorcycle in Lima in response to the determination of the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC).
In this sense, The company reported that, although it considers that its service complies with the current legal framework, it has decided to comply with the ministry’s request and deactivate the service as of August 17.
The company stated that the decision to temporarily deactivate DiDi Moto aims to comply with the government determination and hopes that, consequently, the internet operators that had deactivated the application will reactivate the service in the near future.
“In this way we will be able to continue offering the Peruvian community efficient mobility, food delivery at the door of their homes and, in addition, an entrepreneurial tool for the more than 120,000 people who generate income and support their families using the platform every day. In addition, we will be able to continue supporting the more than 6,000 restaurants whose income is affected by the use of the application. This is key for DiDi, as we contribute to the livelihoods of thousands of people,” the company said.
Highlight investment in Peru
Since arriving in the country three years ago, DiDi says it has invested more than US$50 million and intends to continue contributing to the local economy.
The company highlights that more than 3.5 million people have opted for its services, which has generated income for many families, provided a safe and efficient way of traveling, as well as ensuring the delivery of food in optimal conditions.
