Elon Musk, during the conference of the Californian energy corporation PG&E, shared some remarks about the future that awaits us. The billionaire has a bad prognosis. According to him, the ever-increasing electricity consumption will lead to blackouts in just two years.
Elon Musk: Electricity will end in two years
The head of the Tesla car company and several other companies said it was impossible to “emphasize enough” how much we need electricity. And the demand for it will only grow and grow. So much so that we will need even more than we can estimate today.
The billionaire also shared several calculations, the source of which he did not provide. He stated that the first power shortages in power grids may appear in two years. This is due to the dynamically growing demand, which, in his opinion, is one of the main reasons for the increase in the popularity of electric cars.
He also previously said that by 2045, energy consumption in the United States alone will triple. This is quite a bold assumption, significantly different from the calculations of, for example, energy companies. The already mentioned company that over the next two decades the demand for electricity will increase by approx. 70 percent. McKinsey, a consulting company, predicts that demand will double by 2050. The head of PG&E, however, stated in an interview with , that Musk’s warning will be taken seriously.
Although the accuracy of Elon Musk’s calculations remains unknown, the trend itself (of constantly increasing electricity consumption in the world) is real. The billionaire has some share in it. The Tesla company, of which he is the head, produces (only) electric cars and is an inspiration for some other manufacturers, showing how to build this type of vehicle.
