Appleinsider: Apple patents Mac with Face ID security

The journalists of the portal got acquainted with the Apple patent, which appeared on the website of the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The materials described a computer model with a built-in Face ID face unlock system.
Corporation engineers explained the emergence of a new method of blocking Mac computers by the fact that users store confidential information on their devices and need protection. Also, experts noted that attackers can steal personal data by peeping or picking up a password.
The document specifies that the described “light pattern recognition module” should be small in size so that it can be placed on a computer screen. The engineers specified that the module consists of a light detector and an emitter – the latter will project infrared radiation.
The Face ID system has been used in Apple smartphones since 2017, it is built into the screen notch of the display. In 2021, the company released the first computer with a “monobrow” but without a face unlock feature.
At the end of July, The Elec sources said that Apple would release a 20.5-inch foldable MacBook in 2025. According to insiders, at the moment the company is engaged in obtaining patents for technologies used in the creation of a computer.
