Bleeping Computer: Xiaomi started blocking the installation of Telegram in China
The Chinese company Xiaomi, through the MIUI proprietary shell, began blocking the installation of the Telegram messenger on its devices in China. Bleeping Computer writes about this, citing messages in Telegram channels.
It is noted that MIUI marks the messenger as a dangerous application. “When MIUI identifies Telegram, it pops up a warning stating: “The app has not passed Xiaomi’s security check. This app is a scam,” the post reads.
According to the publication, confirmation was received from the Chinese mobile device developer Hikari Calyx, who called truthful reports that MIUI flags Telegram and other applications.
On August 6, Iraq announced the blocking of the Telegram messenger in the country. The statement of the Ministry of Communications says that such a decision was made in order to preserve the personal data of citizens and the national security of the country, which was not respected by the messenger.
