9to5Mac: Developers Run Windows XP on Apple Vision Pro Glasses
Third party developers were able to install and run a legacy Microsoft system on an Apple Vision Pro headset. This is reported by the publication 9to5Mac.
The successful launch of XP, released in 2001, was reported in their Twitter UTM emulator developers. The experts also showed a video showing the process of launching the operating system in the Apple augmented reality glasses interface.
Media journalists explained that UTM is an emulator that is used to run third-party operating systems on iOS, iPadOS and macOS. Despite the fact that XP was successfully launched on visioOS, the operating system does not support input functions, that is, it is impossible to work with it – enthusiasts promised to solve this problem in the future.
“It’s not surprising that Windows XP works, since Apple’s Vision Pro operating system is based on iPadOS, which UTM developers already support,” the authors noted. However, according to journalists, the attempt of enthusiasts seemed interesting to them. Experts noted that UTM software cannot be found in the App Store, as Apple opposes various types of emulators.
Apple announced the Vision Pro augmented reality headset in early June. Later it became known that the company would sell copies of glasses by appointment. The cost of the device is 3499 dollars, or about 340 thousand rubles.
