Google Maps with a novelty that many Poles have been waiting for. It will make traveling by trains easier

PKP Intercity announced a novelty in the Google Maps application, which will be enjoyed by all train passengers. Now, when searching for connections in the application, we can use the “Buy a ticket” function, which automatically transfers you to the e-IC purchasing system.

Users of the Google Maps application have been able to use it for a long time the function of searching PKP railway connections. The problem is that so far it has not fully served its purpose. After finding a connection that was convenient for us, we still had to go to the website of the carrier, then search for a connection again, and only then buy a ticket.

Fortunately, this situation has changed (or at least partially, because it concerns one carrier). According to PKP Intercity, passengers who use the Google Maps application can now take advantage of the easy redirection option to the e-IC purchasing system using the “Buy a Ticket” function.

Thanks to the new functionality, they will save time searching for the right connection on the carrier’s website. This is a particularly useful feature for passengers who use mixed transport. From now on, they will be able to plan their trip even better

the carrier explains. PKP Intercity already in April this year introduced a similar solution for users of the Jakdojade.pl application and – according to the company – it was positively received by travelers.

PKP Intercity reserves that at this moment the “Buy a Ticket” function may not be available for all domestic connections yet, but ultimately it is to be covered by all trains.

We are very happy to cooperate with such a large partner as Google. We listen to the voices of our passengers and understand how many of them use various applications to effectively plan their journey. Another cooperation with an external channel is a nod to them. We are working to make the sales network grow every month

– says Tomasz Gontarz, Vice-President of the Management Board of PKP Intercity.

It is worth noting that in the case of Google Maps it will still be impossible to purchase tickets directly in the application. However, such a possibility will soon appear in the aforementioned Jakdojada, where the entire process – from finding a connection to finalizing the payment and receiving the ticket – we will be able to implement it without the need to go to the PKP Intercity sales system.
