Manchester City make offer for Lucas Paquetá, but West Ham rejects offer

Midfielder Lucas Paquetá has been attracting the interest of Manchester City in this transfer window. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the West Ham received a proposal of 70 million pounds (about R$ 436 million in current exchange rates) for his player.

However, the onslaught of the current champions of Champions League did not please the club and was rejected. Even so, City plan to submit a new bid for the 25-year-old, who has traits that coach Pep Guardiola likes.

Being able to act both more backwards and forwards in midfield, Paquetá could be Gundogan’s replacement in the Manchester team. The German did not renew his contract and agreed with the Barcelona for that season.

Also according to Romano, Paquetá would have a clause of 85 million pounds (about R$ 530 million) valid from June 2024. However, the Brazilian’s desire would be to join City already in this window.

Paquetá arrived at West Ham last season after agreeing to leave Lyon, France. In 41 matches with the Londoners, the midfielder scored five times and provided seven assists, in addition to helping the club win the last Conference League.
