Canalys: Smartphone market to recover despite sixth consecutive quarter of decline
The global smartphone market has declined again. This was reported in the report of the analytical company Canalys.
According to experts, in the second quarter of 2023, the global smartphone market decreased by 11 percent compared to the same period last year. However, experts expect growth.
“The smartphone market is showing the first signals of recovery after six straight quarters of decline since 2022,” said Canalys analyst Le Xuan Chew. The specialist noted that the inventories of device manufacturers have begun to decline: this means that companies are selling devices to make room for new models. “Suppliers continue to invest in production and have a direct presence in emerging markets such as Southeast Asia and India,” said Le Xuan Chew. In his opinion, it is in these markets that demand is expected to recover.
Samsung remained the industry leader in the second quarter, retaining a 21 percent share. Apple is in second position with a share of 17 percent, Xiaomi is in third with a share of 13 percent. Below are Oppo and Vivo – 10 and 8 percent, respectively.
Earlier, Avito specialists said that in Russia they began to turn to smartphone repair masters more often. Most often, users searched for iPhone repair services.
