Mark Zuckerberg scared? Blocks Threads users in Europe. We checked

Mark Zuckerberg has apparently been scared for good by the EU’s privacy rules. Meta started blocking users who wanted to try Threads in Europe. We checked – the app in Poland can no longer be used.

Two weeks ago, the Meta Threads application is almost a copy of Elon Musk’s social platform, which Threads has been available in over 100 countries since its debut, but the list of exceptions includes most of the Old Continent, including all European Union countries. And this – as they say unofficially – because of fear

In Europe it was possible to use Threads. But Meta just blocked it

The lack of an official debut of Threads in Europe, however, did not change the fact that there were two simple ways to install the application (download the apk file or use a VPN). After that, the new Meta social network could be used without any problems (and without a VPN). However, this changed a few days ago, when some users began to have problems with displaying some posts on the site. It soon turned out that these problems were not accidental or accidental.

Meta confirmed it had “taken additional measures” to prevent users in the EU from using the new social networking site. “Threads is currently not available in most countries in Europe and we have taken extra steps to prevent people living there from accessing it for the time being [do platformy- red.]. Europe continues to be an extremely important market for Meta and we hope to bring Threads here in the future.”

Threads doesn’t actually work. Even a VPN won’t help

We checked and indeed Threads no longer works properly. , so today you can only fire the main social card. Posts from the people you follow and those you can potentially like appear there, and new messages are displayed on a regular basis. In turn, all other elements of the social network do not work. After entering any profile (including yours) on Threads, we will only see an error message.

According to reports from European Threads users, using a VPN does not change the situation. Both after redirecting traffic to American and British servers, the application still did not want to show the content of any profile. As before, only the main tab of the social platform worked. Well, since Meta doesn’t want us to use her new portal so much, there’s no point in going there by force. However, it is so strange that Facebook and Instagram operate in the European Union.
