On the night of Monday to Tuesday, Valve released another update for Counter-Strike 2. The first change players will notice are two new maps – Overpass and Vertigo.
Another novelty is the appearance in game mode winger, in which players compete against each other in the 2vs2 formula on a map limited to one detonation zone. This mode was very popular in the previous installment of the game. So it’s not surprising that he also made it to CS2.
The developers have also introduced a number of other fixes to the game, the list of which can be found below:
- Fixed an issue where parties with two or more players could not enter matchmaking.
- Improved door interaction with dropped weapons and ragdolls.
- Fixed an issue where player interaction with doors affected hit registration
- Fixed an issue where the four grenade icons did not scale properly in team HUD;
- The M249 now has an ammo belt animation;
- added various lighting fixes;
- added sound for toilet door;
- fixed markings of empty places in toilets;
- various fixes added.
CS 2 still in closed beta testing. Valve sends more invites
For now, Counter-Strike 2 is still in closed beta testing. This means that we cannot sign up for the test program ourselves. Valve sends out invitations to players “based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, last time played on official Valve servers, trust factor, and Steam account status.”
On Tuesday, CS 2’s Twitter account announced that another batch of invitations had been sent – We are sending out more invites for limited tests. To our new players – if you encounter any bugs, please let us know via email. Include a description, graphics and, if possible, a video so we can fix bugs faster – we read in the post.
Counter-Strike 2. What’s new in the game?
Perhaps the most important news concerns the so-called tick rate, i.e. the frequency of server updates. In CS:GO, the game server checks the state of the game world at fixed and discrete intervals, or “ticks” of the clock. In the new version, the tick rate will no longer matter when moving, shooting or throwing grenades.
Another novelty is the so-called dynamic smoke. Anyone who has ever had contact with CS:GO knows well how important smoke grenades are in the game. After the update, grenades will create so-called dynamic volumetric objects that interact with the environment and react to lighting, gunfire and explosions.
