What was an invention of sci-fi movies for decades is getting closer. These are flying cars, which can be used not only for military or commercial purposes, but also for civil and recreational use.

The Doroni Aerospace company has already successfully completed a flight of a small craft, which we would know as a flying car.

Two people get into the eVTOL device, which is white in color and has four small wheels similar to those of an airplane. Doron Merdinger, the company’s CEO, got into the car first and flew a few feet above the ground to confirm it was ready to go.

The test run “felt like floating on an air mattress and experiencing an unprecedented level of freedom and excitement,” said Merdinger. “This is just the beginning for us,” added the chief executive, who also served in the Israeli Air Force for a while.

His flying vehicle has a total of ten electric motors. Each of the four channels contains two electric motors with patented guided propellers for a total of eight designed for vertical flight and “two additional thrusters for efficient flight”.

It is described as easy to use, as it has controls that guide the device forward, backward and to the sides.

The eVTOL is 7 meters long, 4 meters wide and 1 meter high. It also has a top speed of 145 mph, a range of 60 miles and a fast charge from 20% to 80% in less than 20 minutes.

The manufacturers are not interested in flying at the height of an ordinary plane, but that it rises a few hundred meters to facilitate transportation. The idea behind this electric flying car is not just to get from point A to point B, but to “enjoy nature”, explains the CEO.

Doroni Aerospace is currently accepting orders for delivery from 2025.
